The clock is built from malachite and mounted with ormolu. The clock features four ormolu feet - the rear two are of toupie form and the front two are of scrolled acanthus leaf form with rams head masks amongst foliage. Atop the feet sits a rectangular stepped malachite plinth with a foliate ormolu mount to the lower centre. The circular malachite clock dial is set atop the plinth to the left centre, and features ormolu Roman numerals. The dial is set within an ormolu mount with leaf form feet, flanking bunches of flowers to either side of the dial and topped with a square pedestal with a garland of flowers. To the right of the clock is a seated the ormolu figure of Demeter, the goddess of harvest and agriculture in Greek and Roman mythology. Also known as Sito or Thesmophoros, she holds in her hand a scythe and on her lap sit sheaths of wheat.
