Description

This fine porcelain tea service has an understated charm, featuring elaborate but never fussy decorations in the 19th Century Sevres style. Each individual piece is deocrated with winged putti and botanical motifs on a gilt-bordered green ground. The almost abstract-like shapes taken by the green ground lend this set a modern charm.

The interior of each piece is also finely parcel-gilded, showing a band of floral and foliate scrolls beneath a gilt rim; and the base of each cup and saucer features a gilt foliate motif. The teapot also has a gilt ground handle and spout.

The set consists of twenty-three pieces, including a tea pot, a milk jug, a sugar box and tray, a slop bowl, and nine cups with nine saucers. Each piece is marked with spurious Sevres marks to the underside.
