This three-piece garniture includes a central clock and a pair of flanking candelabra. The lyre-shaped rouge marble clock case sits upon a rouge marble oval-shaped base, which stands on four ormolu cylindrical bun feet. The enamel dial, featuring Arabic numerals, is signed ‘A. Grinand / Médaille d’Or / Paris’. The dial is decorated with painted polychrome floral garlands and the hands take the shape of stylised lyres. The dial sits within a drum case that is ringed with a jewelled surround. The marble lyre form is surmounted by ribbon-tied cross quivers in ormolu (gilt bronze). The decorative scheme throughout features extensive use of ormolu mounts in the form of beading, lyre strings, garlands, and other floral and foliate motifs.
The two three-light candelabra are similarly decorated, though each stands on a circular base on three ormolu cylindrical bun feet. The candle holders of each, which spring from foliate styled branches, are in the form of flower buds. Ormolu stems with leaves and flowers surrounded these branches, granting the head of each candelabrum a beautiful volume.
