Description

Crafted in 1789, this cane highlights the exceptional craftsmanship of 18th century French artisans.

The handle is elegantly adorned with gold, its surface featuring an engraved rosette and a loop band that encircles the entire piece. The top is decorated with a simple circular design, framed by repeating motifs. It bears hallmarks for Paris, 1769, as well as the maker's mark of Julien Alaterre.

Near the upper portion of the cane, a metal-lined eyelet is included for a wrist cord, allowing for easier carrying.

The long wooden shaft gracefully tapers, and its base is finished with a metal ferrule with signs of use, showcasing that it was once a cherished possession.
