Description

This fine work has been expertly sculpted by the artist A. Duché from a single piece of white Carrara marble. The technique of sculpting with such intricate detail from just one piece of stone is not easy and can only be mastered by the very best sculptors, such as this one from the 19th Century.

The sculpture depicts two youthful figures, or putti, standing together with heads touching, inner-arms around the other's back and outer hands holding. The twin putti are draped in flowers, covering their modesty, with the flower chain running down to the naturalistic ground below, joined at the feet by a tambourine. The naturalistic ground is signed by the artist 'Duche'. The whole sculpture is raised on a low oval-shaped marble plinth.
