By Minton (British, founded 1793)
Minton was the finest producer of majolica ware in Victorian England, of which this beautiful antique jardinière is an excellent example.
The model based on the 'Rams Head Festoon' by Baron Carlo Marochetti (Italian/French, 1805-67), as exhibited at The Great Exhibition of 1851.
With spiral fluted body, festooned with garlands of fruit and flowers in white, ram's head handles, the top edge with an egg-and-dart pattern in green, the bottom edge with a garland design of laurel leaves and ribbon in green and yellow.
