The bowl is of traditional form, with a bulbous body raised on three feet and a rim mounted with twin loop handles. The bowl is crafted from bronze, which is gilt to the feet, the rim and handles, and the two circular cartouches to the front and reverse of the body. The surface of the bowl is profusely adorned with cloisonné enamel: scrolling arabesques and flowers are set above the pale turquoise ground. The twin cartouches contain Thuluth Arabic script, indicating that the piece was produced for the Islamic market.
The bowl is signed underside with a mark in traditional Chinese script.
