The cup is of cylindrical shape and is set on a round cut glass base. The body of the glass is colourless and features enamelled decorations on its front, including a central depiction of three playing cards, consisting of a Jack, a King, and a Queen, from left to right. Around the body of the glass there is a gilt inscription reading 'Leur union est notre force' (translating as 'their union is our strength'). There are gilt bands around the rim and base of the glass, and a finely detailed band with foliate decorations around the top of the cup.
The glass cup has been decorated after Anton Kothgasser (Austrian, 1769-1851) and a similar example is currently held as part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
