Description

This lightweight and elegantly designed cane was crafted in 1919 by Thomas Brigg & Sons, a distinguished English firm renowned for its expertise in canes and umbrellas.

Established in 1836 by Thomas Brigg (1805-1881), the company earned a Royal Warrant in 1884 as official umbrella makers to Queen Victoria, a prestigious honour that was soon followed by commissions from other royal patrons, including the King and Queen of Spain.

The cane features a gold-mounted handle, beautifully complementing the light-hued wooden shaft, which boasts a glossy finish. The natural grain of the wood enhances the piece’s visual appeal, adding to its elegance and refinement. The shaft gracefully tapers down to a metal ferrule, providing durability while maintaining the cane’s sophisticated aesthetic.

At the top of the handle, the original owner’s initials, ‘C.C.B.’, are delicately stamped, while the sides display the maker’s mark along with additional hallmarks.

A testament to exceptional English craftsmanship, this exquisite cane would make a superb addition to any fine collection.
