This beautiful Florentine table mirror is a superb piece of Grand Tour decorative art. The mirror features a highly elaborate frame: the two feet below the frame are modelled as foliate forms, while the crest above resembles a peacock tail supported between two brackets. The surfaces of the frame are profusely inlaid with tesserae in a wonderful demonstration of Italian micro-mosaic art. The mosaics are wrought into foliate forms, with floral buds of a host of colours proliferating. The mirror is supported by an easel backing.
