Description

This fine bust is crafted from painted bisque porcelain. The bust depicts a young woman in the Renaissance style: she wears an elaborate headdress comprised of feathers and folds of lilac fabric. Her clothing is similarly coloured, with the collar fringed with gilt, matching the necklace she wears. She glances slightly to her left. The bust is raised on a cylindrical waisted socle. The model is after one by the nineteenth century French sculptor Paul Duboy. The underside is incised Paul Duboy, is impressed ‘A&L.’, and features various other signed and stamped marks.
