The pedestal is raised up on a gilt metal stand, which rests on three short legs. These feature outward-scrolling, foliate feet and tops decorated with flowers, enclosed in cartouches, and set against a meshed panel, with shaped foliate edges. The three legs are topped by a gilt metal frieze, pierced with scrolling and entwined leafy vines. This frieze is covered by an onyx slab, which serves as a platform for the three table supports to stand on. These take the form of columns, which feature foliate, fluted gilt metal bases and capitals, and smooth onyx shafts, with gilt metal bands around their middles. The columns support a slim gilt metal disc, which is topped by the circular onyx table top.
Owing to the pedestal's refined style, this piece will suit either an antique or contemporary interior. It could be used to support a piece of sculpture or decorative art, or left unadorned and enjoyed as a beautiful, autonomous piece of design.
