This exquisite vitrine was crafted in late 19th century France and showcases a refined design. Â
It is topped with a polychrome marble slab, offering an additional surface for displaying decorative items. Most of the piece is adorned with fine parquetry, with particularly detailed work on the top and bottom sections. A prominent oval ormolu panel graces the front, depicting a classical scene framed by ribbon-tied laurel leaves.Â
Three of the four sides feature large glass panels, providing an excellent view of the items inside. The mirror-lined backing enhances the display, reflecting the beauty of the objects showcased on the two glass shelves. Elegant ormolu borders are mounted throughout the vitrine, such as on the frieze and around the glass doors. More intricate ormolu detailing is featured on the edges and cabriole legs. Decorative elements like ribbon-tied fruits and musical instruments add further charm, while the ormolu sabots not only contribute visual luxury but also protect the wood.Â
Beautifully executed, with refined ornamentation, this vitrine would be a superb furniture piece for the display of one’s, for example, porcelain collection. Â
