This Belle Époque style guéridon is embellished with exquisite floral motifs, meticulously crafted from a variety of materials, including the intricate marquetry technique.
This elegant guéridon was expertly crafted by French cabinetmakers in the early 20th century. Its design pays homage to the exquisite Belle Époque style, which was highly popular at the time.
The piece features a circular top, richly adorned with an array of fine woods. The central panel showcases intricate parquetry, while its border is embellished with ribbon-tied floral marquetry arrangements. Below, the frieze is similarly decorated, with a central rectangular panel framed by brass inlay and mounted with an ornate ormolu ornament. This exquisite detail includes a female bust flanked by cornucopias overflowing with fruit and flowers, along with additional foliage - symbolising abundance and prosperity. The same ormolu mount is present on all four sides, one of which conceals a spacious drawer.
The guéridon stands on four gracefully curved cabriole legs, each adorned with refined ormolu details, such as delicate foliage motifs on the knees and lion-paw feet sabots. Four stretchers extend from the legs, converging at a central circular basket crafted from pierced ormolu, adding a striking decorative element to the piece.
Of exceptional quality and elegant design, this fine guéridon makes a sophisticated addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
