This elegant guéridon was crafted in the early 20th century, during the height of the Belle Époque era, a period celebrated for its refinement and artistic innovation.
The table features a circular top, beautifully decorated with a variety of fine woods. At its centre lies a panel of intricate trellis parquetry, bordered by a clean, undecorated edge that enhances the richness of the inlay. The frieze below mirrors this decorative style and includes a rectangular panel framed in brass, adorned with a finely cast ormolu mount: a female bust flanked by overflowing cornucopias and trailing foliage, symbols of abundance and prosperity. This ornate motif is repeated on all four sides, with one panel discreetly concealing a spacious drawer.
The guéridon rests on four elegantly curved cabriole legs, each embellished with refined ormolu mounts, including stylised foliage at the knees and lion paw sabots at the feet.
Stretchers extend from each leg and meet at a central pierced ormolu basket, which adds a sculptural, decorative flourish. The centre of the basket echoes the trellis parquetry seen on the tabletop, unifying the design.
A piece of superb craftsmanship and artistry, this antique guéridon is a distinguished addition to both classic and modern interiors.
