This fine German ewer is crafted from pewter. The ewer is of traditional form, featuring a tapering cylindrical body, broadening from top to bottom. The ewer is raised on three feet modelled as lions and is surmounted by a hinged cover topped with an engraved shield supported by another lion. The spout is ornately shaped, and the reverse side features a looped handle. The surface of the ewer is profusely engraved with a host of details: abstract friezes encompass the top and bottom, while a rinceau adorns the lower half, and images of dragons decorate the upper.
