The cabinet stands on four tapered mahogany legs which feature leafy ormolu (gilt bronze) tops and are set on ormolu peg feet. Carried between the legs, near their feet, is a rectangular mahogany shelf.
The legs support the mahogany cabinet body which features a closed white marble-lined compartment beneath a drawer. The compartment is concealed behind a door which is mounted with ormolu frames, keyholes (with one key) and foliate escutcheons to imitate three stacked drawers. This door is flanked by a pair of cable fluted columns with ormolu bases and capitals. The columns’ lower flutes are filled in with ormolu fruiting husk trails. The sides of the cabinet are mounted with ormolu frames and flower chains.
A drawer tops the cabinet’s main compartment. This is mounted with a central ormolu knob, framed by an ormolu wreath and leafy fruiting scrolled vines. The drawer is flanked by two ormolu waisted features, their shafts decorated with twisted fluting. The sides of the drawer are decorated with ormolu frames and square rosettes. The cabinet is covered with white-veined green marble, edged with ormolu.
This cabinet can be purchased as a single item, or paired with this bed, which is of identical design and origin.
