Description

This fine Meissen porcelain group is after one of the celebrated models that J. C. Schönheit created in 1772. The present model is emblematic of the sense of sight: an elegantly dressed lady is seated beside her dressing table; her head is turned slightly askance, and she glances at herself in her table mirror. The porcelain is delicately and deftly formed, and the piece is painted in soft pastel tones.

The underside features underglaze blue crossed swords for Meissen.
