Description

This superb five-piece drinks service by Baccarat was produced during the period of Napoleon III. The service is comprised of a trefoil shaped tray, a bowl and cover, a small flask and cover, a decanter with stopper, and a glass. The ruby-coloured opaline glass is overlaid with parcel gilt white ground, which is profusely painted with a host of birds and vibrantly coloured floral sprays amidst circular and pointed trefoil windows, revealing the dark glass beneath. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, and the delicacy of the painted vignettes of birds and flowers is remarkable.
