The mantel clock is placed on an ormolu (gilt bronze) shaped rectangular base, which is set on ormolu foliate and turnip feet. The base is decorated with a rectangular porcelain plaque, which is painted with flowers against a ‘bleu celeste’ (sky blue) ground. The rectangular clock case stands on four leafy scrolled ormolu feet. The ormolu case features a circular ‘bleu celeste’ porcelain dial, with black Roman Numerals. A shaped porcelain plaque, decorated with a ‘fête galante’ (‘courtship party’) scene featuring a young dancing couple, sits below the dial within a ‘bleu celeste’ border.
Ormolu classical masks and flower garlands are mounted onto the sides and upper corners of the clock case. The case is topped by four ormolu pinecone finials, an ormolu flower wreath, and an ormolu classical urn with a domed ‘bleu celeste’ porcelain lid.
The mantel clock is flanked by a pair of ormolu and porcelain candelabra, which are of matching design. The candelabra are surmounted by classical urns, which support the candle-holders. Each candelabrum features five arms—one central and four scrolled—which are topped by the drip-pans, capitals and sconces.
