Description

The porcelain huqqa (or hookah) is composed of a slightly flared bell-shaped base with a cylindrical, ribbed upper body. This is topped by a knopped stem and a cup-shaped bowl.

The huqqa is crafted from white porcelain and finely painted with colourful depictions of birds and flowers. The outlines and details of the images are parcel gilt, creating reflective gold highlights.

This item is of Continental, possibly Russian origin and was created in the late 19th Century.
