Description

The vase is Medici-shaped, meaning it takes the form of the famous 'Medici vase', a 1st Century AD vase which was owned by the Medici family until 1780, and is now housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Set on a square gilt base, the upper part of the vase is curved outwards and is mounted with twin gilt handles. The front of the body of the vase is papinted with an outdoor scene of men hunting on their horses accompanied by their hunting dogs. The lower part of the vase body is decorated with raised gilt detailing of wreaths of foliage and pattern-work on a green ground. The underside of the base is impressed with the blue KPM sceptre mark.
