Description

Dating to the Charles X period, this elegant and charming mantel clock features a central circular dial surrounded by an ormolu foliage wreath, with the outer porcelain case in parcel gilt and florally decorated on black ground.

It was made by Jacob Petit, a leading maker of this period, and it is raised on a base, similarly decorated to the porcelain case above the ormolu mounts in between. With a beautiful, radiant array of colourful flowers, it combines Neoclassicism with a Rococo appeal. It is marked to the underside 'J P.'
