Description

This fine group depicts a duo of mushrooms in the Fabergé style. The mushrooms, of carved jasper, are set onto a quartz base, which resembles naturalistic ground.

Similar items like this were notably first produced by Fabergé in pre-Revolutionary Russia. Before he produced the famous Imperial Easter eggs, he made his reputation with various luxury everyday items made from silver, gold, enamel, and precious stones, such as small hardstone figures of animals, and small vases with a few flowers or fruit—with the vase and "water" in rock crystal and the flowers in various hardstones and enamel.
