Crafted in Russia in the 19th Century, this guéridon (circular side table) is designed in a Neoclassical style. This decorative style was in fashion in this period, and is characterised by its use of classical motifs.
The guéridon stands on four ormolu (gilt bronze) foliate scrolled legs, on paw feet. The legs are connected by lower and upper ormolu stretchers, which are topped by ovoid malachite forms. The legs support a circular malachite top, which is edged with a pierced ormolu gallery.
