This rare and intriguing flatware set was made in the early years of the Victorian era by the well known London maker Francis Higgins II. He was an early part of an important family of silversmiths active throughout the 19th Century and into the first half of the 20th Century, becoming known as Francis Higgins & Sons Ltd. They were particularly well known for their exquisite flatware- this set being a fine and rare example with the use of bloodstone.
The silver blades and fittings are decorated with floral motifs. Each piece is fully hallmarked with makers marks, date codes and standard London silver marks.
