The jardinière features a wide porcelain bowl on a slim, slightly flared foot. It stands on an ormolu (gilt bronze) base which is ornately decorated with cartouches, stylised acanthus leaves, lattice-work, decorative mouldings and C-scrolls.
The jardinière’s porcelain body is ‘bleu celeste’ (sky blue) in colour. Its front features a central painting of three nude cherubs, accompanied by flowing draperies and flowers, and its reverse is decorated with a flower bouquet. These paintings are contained within oval gilt frames, made up of stylised foliage and flowers.
Topping the jardinière’s body is an elaborate openwork ormolu mouth, composed of scrollwork, stylised acanthus leaves, and cartouches. This is fitted with two ormolu leafy C-scroll handles which extend down the sides of the body to the base.
