Description

This wonderful two-tiered side table is mounted with Wedgwood-style jasperware plaques. Intricately cast ormolu mounts complement the brightly coloured jasperware detailing as well as the muted colour of the wood and marble.

The piece features a richly veined marble top coloured in shades of white, grey and red. A drawer hides in the top tier of this elegant side table, the front of which is decorated with ormolu mounts, and Wedgwood-style plaques. The plaques adorning three of the four sides of the two tiers are made from jasperware and coloured in the iconic blue and white , which the famous Wedgwood manufactory is renowned for. Each plaque depicts a different scene, for example of a man and female dressed in Classical garments, surrounded by foliage and Classical vases.

High quality and intricately cast ormolu mounts adorn the edges of the table top, front and side panels as well as the tapered table legs. Used to frame the marble top, plaques, panels and legs, they are a superb addition to the design of this piece. The front of the lower tier is hinged and opens up to extend the surface of the shelf, or provide easier access to objects displayed on it, such as plates.
