The round centre table is crafted entirely of wood, and displays exceptional craftsmanship in marquetry: with woods of different colours expertly combined to create a stunning 'painting in wood'. The tabletop is inlaid with intricate marquetry decorations, with a central arrangement of rustic musical instruments, a hat, wheat and flowers, and an outer border of flowers which encircle the edge. The tabletop is set onto a triform wooden base, with a central ribbed column and three carved, scrolling acanthus leaf form legs, set on wheels. There are date marks on the underside of the table top for 9 August 1856.
The tabletop can be tilted from the flat position to a vertical display position. Dimensions with tabletop tilted / flat: Height 156cm / 74cm, diameter 136cm
