Description

Depicting a horse with an Arab huntsman riding it and lining up his rifle to shoot, this excellent bronze group, small yet exceptionally detailed and crafted, was made by the Viennese artist Bergman and cast by his foundry.

In cold-painted bronze, the group is wonderfully detailed and painted, the concentration of the horseman representative of the skill and attention shown in designing and making this figure. Bergman's Orientalist oeuvre have become highly desirable collector's pieces: unusual, full of character, and instantly recognisable.

This particular work is signed to the underside with a 'B' inside a vase and with foundry and inventory marks.
