Asprey (English, Founded 1781)

Asprey is a celebrated English retailer of jewellery and other luxury goods based in Bond Street, London. It was founded in 1781 in Surrey by the entrepreneur William Asprey.

Originally founded as a silk printing business, Asprey & Co soon became an important luxury goods store, selling ‘articles of exclusive design and high quality’, and in 1847 it moved to its current premises in London. Its received a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1862.

As the retail side of the business continued to expand over the course of the 20th Century, Asprey began to produce its own goods, mostly jewellery, leather goods and objets d’art. In the early 20th Century Asprey produced and sold a number of high quality pieces made in the popular Art Deco style
