Lapini, Cesare (Italian, fl. late 19th Century)

Cesare Lapini (1848 - after 1890) was a prestigious Italian sculptor, who was mainly active in Florence and flourished during the second half of the 19th Century.

Little is known about the life of Lapini, despite the popularity of his works both during his own lifetime and in the present day. Lapini is famous for sculpting a great deal of female subject matter, often in moments of intimacy or serene contemplation. He created works both large and small, which were united by the impressive degree of naturalism that they exhibited.

Today, Lapini's creations are very highly regarded, on account of their beauty and high quality craftsmanship. Lapini's works are held in fine museums, art galleries and private collections across the world, and often achieve very high sums at auction.
