Cahieux, Henry (French, active 19th Century)

Henry Cahieux (1825-1854) was a Parisian sculptor who worked closely with the foundry of Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892). Cahieux created several models for casting in bronze, most of which were rendered in the fashionable Neoclassical style.

Cahieux died young and the full extent of his talent was never realised. At the 1855 Exposition Universelle in Paris, a year after Cahieux’s death, the sculptor’s lamps won a medal of honour for Barbedienne’s stand.
