The French designer Louis-Constant Sévin (1821-1888) worked as chief designer at the Barbedienne foundry from 1855, and remained there for twenty three years. Sévin was a highly skilled craftsman, who was responsible for the creation of the most most varied and innovative objects for Barbedienne's awe-inspiring displays at the international exhibitions and for his most prestigious commissions.
