This exceptional chandelier, designed in the exuberant Baroque style, is wrought from solid silver.
The chandelier is of traditional suspended bowl form—the bowl in this instance a weighty piece of silver issuing eight lights and cast, chased, and appended with a host of scrolling, foliate silver motifs and mounts. The bowl is suspended by four silver chains, the links ornately detailed, the chains hanging from an upper bell-shaped silver support—this support is itself exceptionally finely detailed, both externally and internally, demonstrating the supreme craftsmanship of this piece. From the silver bell support is suspended a looped silver chain, which supports a cup-form element. The entire surface of the chandelier is exceptionally detailed, from the top bell-shaped support to the pendant finial suspended beneath the bowl.
