A Mayfair Gallery Collaboration with GQ Middle East

Model Youssef Rocha lies upon a Mayfair Gallery item.

Mayfair Gallery is pleased to present our collaboration with GQ Middle East and the renowned fashion photographer, Simon Lipman. Both the Gallery and Lipman worked alongside Creative Director, Nicki Black, resulting in the GQ Middle East feature ‘The Art of Sleep’.

Combining Mayfair Gallery’s collection with high fashion items from, amidst others, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton, the editorial foregrounds the dreamy interaction between model, Youssef Rocha, and object, the antique and the now.

Above left: Dreaming amidst our Pair of Louis XVI Style Ormolu and Malachite Pedestals, photographer Lipman captures the stunning and charged interaction between person and antique.

Above right: Model Youssef Rocha reclines in a dreamlike-state on a classical giltwood canape, upholstered in red and gold foliate fabric. The canape pictured is one of five items comprising our French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Giltwood Salon Suite; together with a pair of open armchairs, and two side chairs.

Above: Rocha poses amongst a flock of eight majestic enamel cranes. The Pair of Large Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Double Crane Models to the foreground were produced in China in the late Qing dynasty, and their scale becomes apparent when placed next to Rocha in this magnificent backdrop.

Above left: This ormolu mounted roll-top desk is a particularly exceptional find, designed after the model by Jean-Henri Riesener and made for Marie-Antoinette’s new apartments at the Palace Tuilieres in 1784.

Above right: A Belle Epoque bronze vase by Levillain and Barbedienne.

Above left: An Ormolu and Sevres style porcelain ebonised wood gueridon. In Louis XVI style, this stunning gueridon exhibits a portrait of the King, painted upon porcelain.

Above right: An Italian Giltwood Palazzo suite. This suite consists of seven side chairs and three armchairs.

Above centre: Our large cloisonne enamel antique Japanese vase from the Meiji Period. This elegant piece typifies the Meiji period of design, with its combination of traditional natural imagery from both Europe and Japan.

Above left: An antique patinated bronze sculpture of Penelope, from Homer’s Odyssey, by Cavelier.

Above right: One armchair from our glass and velvet furniture suite in the style of Osler. The entire suite is comprised of two armchairs and a setee.

It has been a pleasure to work with these creative minds who have appreciated and featured our Mayfair Gallery collection. Thank you to Simon Lipman, Nicki Black, and the team at GQ Middle East.
