London Design Festival

17th to the 25th September

This festival offers an eclectic range of insights into the best of design across various locations in the capital city. You can choose your own programme with the support of this organiser from London Design Festival here.

We have selected highlights below, including a visit to the Little Greene Islington Showroom and an evening soiree hosted by Laz Emporium for the launch for their new interior ranges.

BADA Week

3rd to the 9th October

Offering a selection of online exhibitions, you will find something to suit your antique intrigue. Whether you wish to explore Van Cleef & Arpels 1960s dress clips, Modern British paintings, or Japanese silvered bronze okimono, peruse BADA’s selection for an expert insight into the antique world.

 

The Decorative Fair

4th to the 9th October

Hosted at Evolution London in Battersea Park, this tri-annual fair returns for it’s autumn event. Beginning in 1985, The Decorative Fair has gained an international reputation, with 150 dealers offering their finest collection of traditional and decorative antiques. PAD London

10th to the 16th October

The only UK fair dedicated to 20th century and contemporary design is back in Berkeley Square, a stone’s throw from our Gallery. PAD was founded by Parisian antique dealer, Patrick Perrin, hosting a week-long event for design enthusiasts. Find out more here.

 

Frieze London, Frieze Masters & Frieze Sculpture

12th to the 16th October

In Regent’s Park, this art fair began in 2003 and has continued since with great success. Galleries such as White Cube and Alison Jacques exhibit alongside other artists, curators, and designers. In the past it has been attended by over 60,000 people so make sure to join them in 2022. Keep an extra special eye out for the culmination of Damien Hirst's new project, 'The Currency', which will see him burn his artworks for a live audience. Inspiring Walt Disney: The Animation of French Decorative Art, The Wallace Collection

Until the 16th October

The Wallace Collection is hosting this gem of an exhibition for antique and animation lovers alike. In collaboration with the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, this show details the connection between 20th century American animations and 18th century French art. Definitely don't miss this one! Winter Art & Antiques Fair

1st November

This is the thirty-first fair, located in the National Hall Olympia on Hammersmith Road. Beloved by interior designers, you can find unique pieces from Matisse, Cartier, and Lalique. Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear, V&A South Kensington

Until the 6th November

In partnership with Gucci, the V&A present an exhibition on the history of menswear. From the Regency era to David Bowie to Harry Styles, this show considers the construction and performance of masculinity through fine tailoring and craftsmanship. Take a look on the V&A site.

 

Nokukhanya Langa, Saatchi Yates Gallery

Until the 14th November

Her debut solo show, Langa presents her work, inspired by the internet in her mixed-media form. Originally from the USA and now living in Belgium, Langa considers her life, her cultural heritage, and the influence of modern media in her hypnotic art works. See more of Langa's work here.

 

Royal Academy Curator Talk: Making Modernism
