Boxwood

Boxwood is a very durable and heavy wood of light yellow colour, that grows in the form of small evergreen trees and shrubs. On account of its fine grain and attractive appearance, boxwood is a very good material for fine carving. Boxwood is also resistant to splitting and chipping, meaning that it was often used for inlay marquetry inlay work on antique furniture, or for crafting delicate antique collectables such as chess sets and decorative boxes.
