The sleek, rectangular table is crafted with a faux malachite veneer and mounted with brass. The faux malachite veneer is startlingly naturalistic, and recreates the banding habit of the semi-precious stone, malachite. The edges of the tabletop are mounted all around with brass, and beneath the top sits a faux malachite frieze which is decorated with eight-pointed brass stars and further brass mounts to the edges. The table sits on four curved legs, mounted onto the corners of the underside frieze, supported by four brass paw feet.
The use of faux malachite as a furniture veneer was developed as a design feature in the 20th Century and was particularly popular with the famed Italian designer, Piero Fornasetti.
