This charming mantel clock is crafted from ormolu, brass, and champlevé enamel in an eclectic Neoclassical style. The clock features a rectangular frame set with four bevelled glass panels, the corners between each panel mounted with columnar supports. The brass base below, the shafts of the columns, and the entablature above are all profusely decorated with polychrome champlevé enamel work. In addition to brass and champlevé enamel, the clock features fine ormolu, or gilt bronze, mounts: particularly the base and capitals of the columns and the large urn-form finial surmount. The case contains a circular dial adorned with champlevé enamel and inscribed with Arabic numeral hour indices. The movement, set with a hanging false mercury pendulum, is stamped ‘AD Mougin’.
