With a movement stamped for Leroy and Pailly, this fantastic timepiece showcases the timelessly beautiful combination of gilt-bronze and malachite.
Made in the Charles X style, the dial of the mantel clock is set within a case, a later malachite replacement, and is surmounted by a superb ormolu statue in the form of a jockey on a horse. The case is further decorated with gilt elements, around the rim of the dial and in the form of elegant spiralling floral elements on the body and on the feet.
It was crafted in France, in the early nineteenth century, c.1840, and exemplifies the finest in antique clock making, replete with a rare and beautiful equestrian sculpture, that makes this piece particularly valuable for those who share a love of horses.
