The lamps are crafted from Chinese porcelain, with ormolu (gilt bronze) mounts added later in France, as was fashionable at the time. The lamps feature baluster form Canton famille rose porcelain bodies, which are beautifully painted with Chinese court scenes, with figures dressed in traditional costume. These are accompanied by paintings of flowers, fruit and foliage. The porcelain bodies are set on ormolu bases and fitted with ormolu handles, both of which are cast to look like collections of bamboo sticks. Topping the porcelain bodies are ormolu collars, with wick-raiser knobs. The lights are covered by clear glass chimneys and frosted glass shades, decorated with floral patterns.
