This charming piece was made in China in the early twentieth century and offers a fine example of Chinese, Qinq dynasty style cloisonné enamel wares.
Consisting of a small, carved hardwood pedestal, with a simple design featuring a five-sided shaped and subtle decorative motifs to the structure above each open space, the pedestal stands on a small circular base.
The top is inset with a delightful design, executed in cloisonné enamel (a technique whereby small volumes are marked out in delicate metal wiring and are filled in with enamel), which depicts a pair of small songbirds flitttering amongst flower blossoms in a peaceful garden setting.
The table is 34cm tall and 45cm in diameter, while the central decorative panel is c.30cm across. A simple, humble, yet beautiful piece, it is guaranteed to lighten any interior to which it is added.
