The bowl is of typical form, with a bulbous body raised by three feet and a rim mounted with twin looped handles. The bowl is crafted from bronze, which is gilt in part, including the feet, the rim and handles, and the two circular cartouches to the front and reverse of the body. The surface of the bowl is profusely adorned with cloisonné enamel: scrolling arabesques and flowers of a variety of kinds are set above the turquoise ground. The twin cartouches contain embossed Thuluth Arabic script, indicating that the piece was produced from the Islamic market. It is signed underside with a mark in traditional Chinese script.
