The kovsch is of typical water-bird form and is crafted in silver-gilt. It features one singular elongated handle which serves as the neck and beak, and a simulated tail to the other side. The kovsch is decorated all over with floral arabesques and geometrical patterns in intricately wrought polychrome cloisonné enamel. The underside features various Russian hallmarks.
