This set of five inkwells, each of a different kind and crafted using different materials, is a charming example of the eclecticism of European decorative art.
This eclectic collection includes five dog-themed inkwells of a variety of forms, species, and materials. The collection is comprised of a lidded porcelain well painted to the front with a picture of a spaniel; an elaborate metal stand topped with a metal dog and twin cut glass wells; a metal dog with a dead duck in its mouth, the dog’s head lifting to reveal the interior inkwell; a cold-painted bronze well of a dog by a tree stump; and a cold-painted bronze dog who’s neck is hinged, the inkwell contained within his body.
