Description

This sweet and delicate flower model is designed and made in the style of pieces produced by the renowned Russian jeweller, Peter Carl Fabergé (1846 -1920).

A vivid orange hardstone is expertly carved to depict three hibiscus 'carnelian' blossoms. The magnificently carved petals are paired with a shining diamond centre. A vermeil (silver-gilt) stem grows from each flower, all joining together in the rock crystal vase. One green nephrite leaf extends from the vermeil stem.

The rock crystal vase is of an elegant shape and its clearness further adds to the real-life appearance of the model, making the flowers appear like they are in a vase full of water.

The masterful execution of each part of this flower model ensures the piece is a very successful example of trompe l’oeil, whereby the observer’s eye is tricked into believing the flower is real.

The vermeil stem is marked ‘88’.

The delicate size paired with incredibly fine execution makes this object d’art a wonderful addition to one’s interior space.
