The mantel clock, which is crafted from malachite and ormolu—with the malachite being a later veneer—is a fine example of the Empire style. The clock is designed in an architectural manner, with a plinth-form base below, four square-profile columns forming the structure of the body, and a flat tableau above. The surfaces throughout are of malachite, with ormolu borders moulded with Neoclassical motifs. The centrally placed circular enamel dial is contained within a moulded ormolu bezel, the cream-coloured dial painted with floral sprays in lieu of hour indices. An elaborate ormolu pendulum hangs below, its surface moulded with a classical mask and a variety of foliate detailing.
