This chandelier is crafted from ormolu (gilt bronze) and metal in the Empire style. The chandelier is formed of an openwork basket, the ormolu pierced to produce ribbons of laurels interspersed with bundles of scrolling acanthus leaves. The meridian of the chandelier (the top tier of the basket) is formed of metal and supports eight scrolled ormolu branches, each terminating in a single light. The bottom of the basket is affixed with a pendant flame finial, while the top of the basket supports a large flambeau finial, also of ormolu, which is held aloft by four curved laurel branch supports.
This basket is supported by four ormolu chains, the links of which are ornately shaped. These chains are attached to the chandelier’s upper ring, which also supports a corona of ormolu acanthus leaves.
