Description

This painted earthenware clay plaque depicts a long rectangular portrait study of six bridled horses of different breeds in bust form. Painted in naturalistic style, the horses are set against a backdrop of clouds, leaning over a low hedgerow to the foreground. The plaque is set in an ebony and parcel gilt frame.

The plaque is impressed indistinctly to the reverse, including ‘HL’ and ’19.7’.
